Description
You are bidding on a 1773 dated British Half Penny which bears the counterstamp of Devins & Bolton, Montreal druggists who were without question the most prolific counterstampers of copper coins. Their counterstamps are usually seen on Canadian tokens and US Large Cents, but are less frequently seen on British coins. When this 1773 Half Penny was counterstamped, the punch must have bounced, because there is spectacular doubling of the left side of the impression which rivals the 1955 doubled die Lincoln Cent. This is a really neat piece of numismatic/exonumia history . Iwill start this at .99c with NO RESERVE!!!
Winning bidder to pay .00 for USPS First Class shipping with tracking to US destinations.
NOTE:Â Shipping to Canada to be determined at conclusion of auction, but will not exceed actual shipping cost
