Trade Coin 1/2 cent Canada Ships,Colonies & Commerce 1790-1871

Another unusual coin that came in a recent collection I found at a local yard sale. I've tried to look it up but the only info I got was that it is a half cent trade coin from Prince Edward Island ? Made from 1790-1871? I know its very worn but it says," Ship Colonies,and Commerce". Diameter is one inch.
