A stunning rawhide leather and wood stirrup. This piece is identical to another piece with this bit of identifying information written upon the tread:
"Lost by Indians pursued by U.S.Mtd Rifles[?] after the Massacre near Frt Ewell, Texas, May 2nd 185_"
This is an incredibly rare item.
A great object for study or display, this will make a nice addition to any student or appreciators collection of Native American art and artifacts.
Very good condition with no detectable repair. Significant signs dryness commensurate with age. Exhibits signs of age such as surface wear and weathering. As they are part of the description, please enlarge all photographs to better ascertain details and condition.
