Description
For sale is a vintage stainless steel Ford Employee Badge and matching brass tool check (or tag) #1173 from the Northville Valve Plant. Each employee of the plant was issued a numbered badge and if that employee needed to check a tool out of the tool crib he had to turn in one of several tool checks also issued to him. A matching set of badge and check is very unusual - the individual badges and individual checks are much more common, but this is your chance to own a matched set.The employee badge is from the 1930s and is made of stainless steel, a premium steel that Henry pioneered in mass production a few years earlier - note the incredible detail in the embossed design - the Ford Tri-motor airplane in the upper right, the Ford ore boats at the bottom, and, of course, a sampling of the various manufacturing plants.
The beautifully embossed employee badge and matching tool check make a wonderful vintage keepsake for you or for a present.
The badge measures 1" X 1.25" and the tool check measures 1-3/8'" high X 1-1/4" wide.
The Northville Valve plant was the first of Henry Ford's two dozen water powered Village Industries and made 100% of all the valves for Ford engines at the time. The plant has since been restored for other uses, but still has the 16 foot diameter water wheel that powered a portion of the manufacturing process.
This is for a fund raiser for the Northville Historical Society and Mill Race Historic Village.
