This rare Creek language record introduces Mr. Frank B. Long with KVOO radio in Tulsa Oklahoma. This record is a center start 78. Mr. Long introduces the Creek Speaker, David Beaver, as a “full-blood” who had been an interpreter for the Indian language service since 1906. The announcer stated that Mr. Beaver had translated more Creek words than any other interpreter, and that he was the father of George Beaver who graduated from West Point. In addition, the interpreter stated that Mr. Beaver was going to speak in his native language as spoken by his ancestors prior to the discovery of America.
The recording is approximately 1 minute 38 seconds in length. The sound quality is good and clear and the record is in very good condition. A brief audio from the record, played on an inexpensive 78 record player and transferred to a cell phone, is included in this listing. I obtained this record in Sand Springs, Oklahoma approximately 35 years ago.
My best guess is that the recording was probably done in the 1920's 0r 1930's. I suspect that they are truly "one of a kind".
