    Description

Authentic Native American elk antler hide scraper with provenance- From Major Montana Collector Estate. Marked I. Provenenace as part of a number of items ( many scrapers) from Blackfeet . Most likely from the Blackfeet reservation in Montana. This is very old…. Very well used…. Appears to be early 1900’s or late 1800s. This had the stone attached with rawhide. Assuming the stone was added at a later time, I am certain it is an authentic artifact found in Montana. Ted Byers had such a massive collection of genuine artifacts and would never have used a modern made stone. It could be original to the piece with a redone rawhide wrap Well used.
    From the Ted Byers collection
Ted Byers was one of the largest collectors of authentic Native American artifacts and Indian Wars items/ relics in the State of Montana. He metal detected and picked his way across Montana in the early 1900’s, also acquiring previous historic collections along the way. He was known by all of the serious collectors and passed away in 2017. I have sold numerous items from his estate and the process continues.
