    Description

    Antique mid to late 1800’s Sioux/Plains area painted (Native American/Plains Indian) Parfleche envelope form container., constructed of rawhide and intricately decorated in an abstract design with hourglass and geometric motif with natural pigments and trim stitched in leather fringe.
    Measures approximately 12” x 8.5” (not including fringe)
    Condition: Shows some pigment fading and
    several
    areas of staining to both front and back commensurate with it’s age and much use. Later period repair to section of
    leather stitch along edge as shown (SEE PICS)
