    DESCRIPTION:
FOR PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY BELIEVE A CAR

S PRICE SHOULD BEAR SOME RELATIONSHIP TO WORTH.
There are, fortunately, still some people in the world who can discern the difference between a car that's worth the money and one that's outrageously overpriced.
If you’re one of them, you'll appreciate the Volvo GL.
It's an automobile that not only exhibits extraordinary workmanship and care of construction. It abounds in the refinements you'd expect in a fine prestige car: air conditioning, sun roof, power windows, orthopedically-designed front bucket seats, and a driver's seat that automatically heats up when the temperature falls below 57°. (All of these things, incidentally, are standard.)
In one place, and one place only, does the Volvo GL fall short of other select imported luxury cars. In price.
Which simply means it's now possible for you to purchase a fine European luxury sedan.
Without being taken for a ride.
VOLVO A car you can believe in.
VOLVO OFFERS FEATURES SOME PEOPLE JUST CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT.
What Volvo thinks should be standard equipment in a car is dearly different from what other car makers think should be standard equipment in
    a car.
Volvo goes beyond the worid of plush carpeting, electric antennas and visor vanity mirrors to indude standard features that can make you a safer driver.
The steering, braking and suspension systems are all engineered to provide the kind of precise handling that helps the driver avoid acddents. But since not all accidents are avoidable,
    Volvo surrounds the
    passenger compart
ment with a steel safety cage. Rather than just the usual steel frame.
Volvos are built with crumple a zones front and rear. In a collision, the car is designed to
absorb the impact. Not the people in it.
Instead of providing you with a safety
    head restraint
you can conveniently adjust too low for safety,
Volvo provides a non-adjustable one. With openings in it for visibility.
The seat allows the driver the optimum driving position. In addition to going back and forth, it adjusts up and down, reclines to any angle and expands to support the small of the back. It even heats up.
Because it’s hard to keep your mind
    on the
    road when
    there's a chill up
    your spine.
Like most steering wheels, the steering wheel in a Volvo is attached to a column that collapses in the event of a collision. But ours also folds up like a penknife, to absorb even more of the impact. And the wheel itself
has a heavily padded centre and an energy absorbing break-away rim. All this
may seem excessive. Until you remember that in a collision your steering wheel is only about 18 inches
    from your chest.
With conventional brakes, if the front circuit fails you could lose up to 70% of your stopping power.
Volvo's disc brakes use a dual
triangular split system. Simply put, if either the front or rear circuit fails, the remaining circuit provides 80% of the car’s original stopping power.
Granted, hearing about a Volvo’s standard safety features isn’t as much fun as hearing about
the standard features most cars talk about. But then, Volvo isn’t simply concerned with making life inside a car comfortable. We want
    to make it p
    ossible.
VOLVO A car you can believe in.

IN YOUR SEARCH FOR A LONGER LASTING CAR, REMEMBER LONGEVITY IS HEREDITARY.
As car prices have spiralled, so have people’s expectations of what they should get for their money.
A recent study by the Roper organization, for instance, has shown that Americans plan to keep their cars longer.
Which could explain why more and more people are buying Volvos.
For 55 years, Volvo’s philosophy has been to produce durable, well-
built automobiles. Nowhere is that philosophy better embodied than in the Volvos of today.
Recent findings show that Volvo’s life expectancy is 1/3 longer than the average life expectancy of all other cars on the road.* So if you expect your next new car to last a long time, make sure you marry into the right VOLVO family. A car you can believe in.
